While I find it sometimes helps to write in mind for a specific actor its a waste of time unless your a well known writer or signed to a studio or have an established production company.

Even if your screenplay was amazing, 99% of actors would never read it because of various legal issues that could arise from doing so.

Only if you were in the position of casting a well financed film in pre production would you be able (generally speaking) to request the audition or inclusion of a specific actor.

Thousands of British actors are listed in The Spotlight directory. Go to any good media library and chances are the actor you require is listed with their agent's contact details. The directory is expensive to buy as there are many volumes. It is also available on CDROM from www.spotlightcd.com

If it's a really big-time actor you want to contact, you may just find the agent's details in Who's who.
